A not very convincing attempt to turn vain, vulgar, conniving and selfish Lydia Bennet into a heroine in a series of misadventures as unoriginal as they are unconvincing. This is not imitation Austen but third rate imitation Austen. Adding insult to injury, a sequel is threatened. Jane would not be amused. Give this one and all its successors a miss.
