Gunnerkrigg Court, 1: Orientation, by Thomas Siddell

Gunnerkrigg Court, 1: Orientation, by Thomas Siddell, 296 pages

Stop me if you've heard this one before: young person with special abilities enrolls in a mysterious boarding school and adventure ensues.  It sounds like a million other young adult fantasy stories, but this was a very cool (and simultaneously cute) comic series that I didn't expect to like as much as I did. The heroine, Antimony Carver, is smart, young, no-nonsense, and a refreshing character to see in the male-dominated comics universe.
