Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - 432 pages

If you've been under a rock and missed the hubbub about this book, here's the basic plot summary.  On the day of their 5th wedding anniversary Nick's wife Amy disappears.  The book covers Nick's search for the truth about what happened to Amy and dealing with the consequences of who they both had become along the way.  I am a character driven reader and everybody is pretty much flawed so I wasn't really left with a hero to root for with a clear conscience.  It's a good book with well written suspense.  I was a little taken aback by the characterization of small town Missouri as a total backwater filled with drugs and homeless everywhere.  At the end of the book I wasn't sure how I felt about the resolution, it just left me feeling a little disappointed in all the characters.
