The Fallen Angel by Daniel Silva

The Fallen Angel by Daniel Silva - 416 pages

The latest entry into the thriller series featuring art restorer / Mossad spy Gabriel Allon doesn't disappoint.  Gabriel is trying to lead a simple life of retirement by restoring a priceless Caravaggio painting at the Vatican.  A shocking death in St. Peter's Basilica pulls Gabriel into a murder investigation that leads from the intrigue filled halls of the Vatican into the world of international art theft.  Of course as in all the Allon books, Gabriel also gets tied up into the web of his old life in Mossad while trying to solve the homicide.

Silva writes the best kind of thrillers.  You get caught up in the action and stay up late to finish the story.  The international settings and action scenes read like a movie.  Plus you pick up art history tidbits as an added bonus!
