Slightly Shady by Amanda Quick - 276 pages
The first meeting between Lavinia Lake and Tobias March did not go very well - Tobias destroyed her shop in Rome and ordered her back to London. Their second meeting was over the dead body of a blackmailer. When they discover they are both investigating a missing diary, they decide to join forces. The only question is whether they will be able to stop arguing long enough to actually solve the case.
This is the first book in a historical mystery trilogy by Amanda Quick. I don't believe that mysteries are best genre for Quick (aka Jayne Ann Krentz) as it is pretty obvious early on in the story who the villain is going to be. Still, it was an amusing to see just what the main characters would argue over next.
