(Companion to Graceling)
Fire is a monster. Not a monster in the sense of a terrible tyrant who destroyed the kingdom like her father. But a monster in the sense that her beauty and colorful hair mesmerizes people making them either fall completely in love with her or want to kill her. She has spent her whole life "hiding" in her home, but now she has been called to the capital by the king who wants her to use her gift to get into people's minds to interrogate them in the hopes of avoiding war.
This is the companion book to Graceling. It takes place in the lands north to the Midlunds separated by mountains. It focuses on Fire and her friends. But it also gives a little history for Leck, the tyrant from Graceling. This was a great book. Definitely a must read for teen fantasy fans.
