Sparky: The Life and Art of Charles Schulz by Beverly Gherman - 125 pages
This children's biography of Charles Schulz was reviewed highly when it came out. However, I was not impressed with the book. I thought the writing was too simplistic in both style and substance. Charles Schulz is my favorite cartoonist so I knew some of his life story before reading this book. I know it is a book for children, but it glossed over the fact that Schulz suffered from depression most of his life - almost making it seem as if he was a very happy person at all times. I did enjoy the inclusion of Peanuts comic strips that related to Schulz's life at particular moments.
