Shadow of the Titanic: the Extraordinary Stories of Those
Who Survived by Andrew Wilson 361 pages
We normally don’t think much about the survivors of the
Titanic once they had been rescued. Yet the survivors did have lives after the
disaster. Many escaped with little more than the pajamas they were wearing.
Others came home to find that the family fortunes in tatters. Some made
fortunes on their new notoriety. Some were branded as cowards and some as heroes
and many deserved the brand. Although most were just people caught in
unexpected circumstances. As I read the book I came to realize that maybe J.
Bruce Ismay may not have been the evil person we were lead to believe.
This book is a good way of completing the last chapter in
this terrible tragedy. And after 100 years, those who went through that time
could use the peace and quiet.
