Emily and Navin enter an alternate world to save their mom from a tentacled monster. In that world, they meet their great-grandfather who gives Emily ownership of The Amulet which will grant her the power to give her whatever she wants.
I picked this up to read at lunch thinking I'd probably get halfway through it. However, there is so little text that I finished it in 20 minutes. I know kids who are rabid fans of this series - however, I didn't really see the appeal. To be honest, the book kind of bored me. I finished it simply because I didn't have anything else to read with me.
