Age of Reptiles Omnibus, by Ricardo Delgado

Age of Reptiles Omnibus, by Ricardo Delgado, 398 pages

This was a beautifully illustrated graphic novel simply depicting the movements and lives of dinosaurs.  The dinosaurs weren’t anthropomorphized, so there were no speech bubbles- which would make you think that this was a breeze to read.  But it actually took me longer to read this than the usual graphic novel- I had to really examine each panel and figure out who was whom, and why they were fighting, and what the purpose of the story was- without the benefit of text to clarify.  So it was kind of like if Owly fought in the Battle of Hastings and they made a medieval tapestry about it. Flawed analogy?  Maybe.

I’m not really one for books where animals are attacking and eating each other, but I could see this being very appealing to male reluctant readers of the middle school variety.
