I Was a Doctor In Auschwitz by Gisella Perl, 129 pages
Like most books about the Holocaust, I Was a Doctor in Auschwitz is an intense, brutal read. This memoir struck new levels of horrors in me because I had never really thought about the problem of pregnancy would be in such a place. I have read about the unspeakable horrors and experimentations that were performed on pregnant prisoners and their progeny but this book drove it home in an awful new way.
