The Diplomat's Wife by Pam Jenoff

The Diplomat's Wife  by Pam Jenoff   360 pages

Marta survived Nazi prison camp.  She was saved by an American soldier named Paul.  After her recovery, she meets Paul again and they fall in love, but they must part ways. After meeting in Paris again by coincidence, they realize they are meant to be together.  They become engaged and plan to meet in London in 2 weeks.  The morning of their meeting Paul's plane crashes with no survivors.

Alone in London and pregnant with her fiance's baby, she doesn't know what to do.  She begins to work for a diplomat and he soon asks her to marry him.  They marry and raise the baby together.  18 months later Marta is forced into a situation where she meets a few people from her past.  She is put in danger and finds out a shocking secret about her husband.  Will she find true love again.

I could not put this book down.  The first half was good, but the second half was tremendous.  With many cliffhangers, and points of danger and love, I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good love story and especially if you like historical fiction.

  1. After reading this review, I looked for this book over the weekend at a local bookstore. I wasn't successful so I placed it on hold.
