What We Found in the Sofa and How it Saved the World by Henry Clark

What We Found in the Sofa and How it Saved the World by Henry Clark - 384 pages
Freak, River, and Fiona discover a slashed and possibly bloody sofa at their school bus stop one morning.  It appears to be discarded from the very creepy Underhill mansion.  Digging in the cushions for loose change, they find a zucchini-colored crayon, a strange coin and a double-six domino.
When their eBay auction for the crayon leaps to thousands of dollars they decide they should return it to Mr. Underhill--the rightful owner.  And then they find themselves face-to-face with an eccentric old man, a computer with a mind of its own, and furniture that eats dust bunnies.  All of this is linked to an evil dictator from another dimension who is trying to conquer Earth.
It is an innovative read with likeable characters and enough weirdness to keep the reader entertained.  It might be a fun family read-aloud.
