Dave Gurney Series Book One
Recently retired NYPD Homicide Detective Dave Gurney is attempting to live the quiet life in northern New York and rebuild his strained relationship with his wife. An out of the blue phone call from an old college friend lures Gurney back out into the field to help find the source of a series of threatening letters. Gurney can't resist a puzzle and quickly becomes involved as the intrigue escalates to murder. The mystery is very well plotted and the writing superbly conveys an atmosphere of menace throughout even with a villain that is off screen for the majority of the book. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.
